The view from our room
Across the street from our hotel was a "Cat Sanctuary" run by a lady that lives down the street. I thought of my fellow crazy cat lady, Allyson, when I saw this place.
We counted almost 30 cats one night. As you can see from this one they are not going hungry.
Our first day there we took a boat ride around the island. It was nice to see the other areas of Malta but we definitely picked the best part to stay. Almost every building is built from native limestone so the entire island is various shades of beige. The boats add just the right splash of color to brighten up the place.
That night we went to the Blue Elephant for our Thanksgiving dinner. It's a wonderful Thai restaurant - definitely a nice change from Italian.

Our Christmas Story Turkey Dinner :)
On Friday, we took a ferry over to the island of Gozo. It rained a lot on this day but it didn't stop us from sightseeing.

Fungus Rock - The only place that Fucus coccineus melitensis will grow. It was believed to have medicinal properties and the Knights Hospitaller used it as a styptic dressing for wounds and a cure for dysentery.
Ggantija Temples - The oldest free standing structure in the world (looks like a pile of rocks to me).
That night we stayed out really late so Saturday was spent relaxing and walking around St. Julian.
On the ride home we had an interesting adventure - some advice: Do NOT trust the GPS!
